I’d describe “The Runaway” as a song about freedom, self-discovery, and the courage to leave behind a life that no longer feels like your own. The idea of the “runaway” works on more than one level. It can mean physically leaving, but it can also represent breaking away from expectations, relationships, identities, or versions of ourselves that have become too restrictive

That interpretation fits especially well with NUUMUUN’s broader artistic identity. Neoma describes her music as being influenced primarily by indie, Appalachian folk, and rock, and says that music has taught her about her own “power and femininity,” with the hope that her work brings listeners “power, peace, and release.” “The Runaway” feels very much at home in that world: restless but vulnerable, independent but reflective.
