I have been coming to shows here since I was a child.

Few venues are as connected to Charleston’s independent music community as the Charleston Pour House.
The story began in 2002 when Alex Harris took over a small bar in West Ashley with a simple idea: create a place centered around the music he loved. Along with Vanessa Harris, he eventually built the Pour House into something much bigger—a true community gathering place.
After moving to James Island, the Pour House developed its distinctive two-stage setup: the intimate indoor Main Stage and the outdoor Deck Stage, where local and touring musicians perform throughout the week.
What makes the Pour House special is the culture around the music.
People come even when they don’t know the band. Musicians meet, collaborate, and build audiences there. Long-running traditions like Motown Throwdown, The Reckoning, and the annual Garcia Gathering have helped turn regular performances into community traditions.
The Pour House has also grown beyond concerts, hosting farmers markets, food, art, yoga, and other community events.
After more than two decades, Alex and Vanessa have created much more than a successful music venue.
They created a place where musicians and audiences feel like they belong.
That may be the best way to describe the Charleston Pour House:
